Dashboard Redesign POC
I created a dashboard redesign proof of concept to address flow challenges caused by the existing application's low navigation maturity, and demo'ed to Stakeholders at the closing ceremony of a team-wide innovation sprint.
The Stakeholder team was so impressed with the design & demo that, despite previous resistance to the idea of a dashboard navigation approach, the first comment following the end of the demo was ...
"Add that to the plan for the next Program Increment."
Woohoo!
Flow Challenges
The existing navigation style of our application was simply linear:
The customer progressed from beginning to end through a series of screens, with each screen representing a vital step along the process.
It was proving difficult to incorporate conditional & customizable features into a linear application flow.

Challenge 1: Adjust Coverage?
Given the linear flow, customers can only make their coverage option selection once.
Problem to solve:
How can customers adjust their coverage selection at any time?
Challenge 2: Review Offer?
The customer's coverage selections and document verification could alter their offer details.
Problem to solve:
How can customers see the updates applied to their offer details?
Sketching
I wanted to make sure that my dashboard proof of concept would accommodate all of the tasks required in the desired product flow while also exploring different options for organization and layout.
I wrote down the major steps of the desired User Flow onto sticky notes and placed them on corresponding elements in each of my sketches where the design would allow the user to accomplish the task.
This allowed me to ensure that each dashboard layout option accommodated all the needed activities.
